    What drives basement waterproofing cost?

The method. Interior drain tile avoids excavation and typically runs $45–$110 per linear foot. Exterior waterproofing requires digging to the footing and usually costs $120–$300 per linear foot, before landscaping restoration.

The size of the basement. Drainage and membranes are priced by the perimeter; coatings by the square foot. A 30 × 40 ft basement has a 140 ft perimeter and about 1,200 sq ft of floor.

Access and depth. Driveways, decks, mature landscaping and deep footings all add labor. Finished basements may require removing and replacing drywall along the walls.

Severity and soil. Clay soils, high water tables and structural movement call for more drainage capacity, wall reinforcement or both.

Add-ons. Sump pumps, battery backups, dehumidifiers and gutter and grading work are often bundled into the same project.
